New York State Cosmetology Practice Exam

The primary concern for clients undergoing chemical peels is often skin sensitivity post-treatment. After a chemical peel, the skin undergoes a significant process of exfoliation and renewal, which can lead to increased sensitivity, redness, and potential irritation. Clients may experience heightened sensitivity to the sun and other environmental factors, which necessitates careful post-treatment skincare and sun protection. This concern influences their decision-making regarding the treatment, as they want to ensure they can manage the post-peel care effectively and minimize any discomfort associated with sensitive skin.

While other aspects such as increased oil production, time required for recovery, and maintenance costs are valid concerns for clients, the immediate sensitivity and healing responses of the skin typically take precedence. The knowledge that they may need to adjust their routine to accommodate the sensitivity can be crucial for clients as they prepare for the treatment and consider their aftercare.
